--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi, I am Young lady who was on the Depo shot for three years it has been a year since I had the shot and I have not had PERIOD or conceived a child yet. Everyone I have spoken with, that was on the shot has had a period after the first 6mths or has gotten pregnant. I would like to know if there is a way or a medication I can take that will help the Depo get out of my system so that I can get pregnant or may start my period.
Thank You,
Woman in need

Response to "woman in need":
many people on depo for contraception do not have regular ovulation for months afterwards, although 6 months might be an average amount, some can go up to one or two years. your should see your GYN for blood tests to confirm the cause of such, and then give you hormone replacements/medications that can get you back on schedule.

I have been trying to get pregnant for almost two years now and have had no luck. I was wondering if the type of birth control I was on (depo) and not having a cycle at all since before I got pregnant with my first child is the reason for this. I have seen a doctor and was told just to keep trying everything looks fine. Should I see another doctor or just keep trying?

it can take many months, even one to two years. there are many factors to fertility and getting pregnant.

there is a column posted on our forum on "getting pregnant fast" that you can refer to.

at two years, i would definitely consider seeing a fertility specialist for followup.
